Electrical Design Supervisor

Our client operates within the industrial power and electrical engineering sector, specialising in the design and manufacture of medium-voltage switchgear systems for industrial and commercial applications.

The Electrical Design Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of electrical designers delivering detailed design and documentation packages for medium-voltage switchgear systems.

This role plays a critical part in driving project execution, maintaining design standards, and ensuring that all drawings and documentation meet customer requirements, manufacturing needs, and applicable industry standards.

• Supervise and support a team of electrical designers producing drawings and documentationfor medium-voltage switchgear systems.
• Review and approve single-line, three-line, and front elevation diagrams inline with customer specifications and quotation packages.
• Oversee the design of control circuits, protection schemes (includingdifferential and transfer protection), and PT/CPT load calculations.
• Ensure all drawing packages are complete, accurate, and compliant with customer expectations and applicable standards.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and manufacturing teams toensure timely release of design deliverables.
• Support the transition from quotation to detailed design by interpreting customer specifications and coordinating internal activities.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior designers, promoting best practice and continuous development.
• Maintain and enforce design standards aligned with ANSI, NEC, and ULrequirements.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance design workflows, documentation quality, and team efficiency

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical design, drafting, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in electrical design of medium-voltage switchgear systems.
• At least 1–2 years’ experience in a lead, senior, or supervisory design role.
• Strong understanding of switchgear internal wiring and mechanical integration principles.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; experience with SolidWorks is advantageous.
• Proven capability producing and interpreting control schematics, layout drawings, and system-level diagrams.
• Working knowledge of applicable industry standards, including ANSI, NEC, and UL.
• Strong communication, organisation, and team leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience working within a manufacturing or project-driven environment.
• Background supporting engineering change management or structured design review processes.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop technical talent.
