Role:

The Electrical Estimating Manager is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing estimating strategy, execution, and team performance.

Based onsite in Northern Houston, this role combines hands-on estimating responsibility with team leadership, process optimisation, and close collaboration with sales, project management, and customers to secure new business through accurate, competitive, and high-quality proposals.

Requirements & Essential Functions:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the estimating team, fostering a positive, high-performance, and results-driven culture.
  • Act as a senior, hands-on estimator, preparing quotes and proposals during peak workload periods.
  • Partner with business development managers, project managers, and customers to define project scope and deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain standardised quotation templates within CRM and ERP systems.
  • Build accurate bills of materials from customer specifications, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Coordinate with supply chain teams and utilise ERP data to ensure precise costing and margin control.
  • Oversee estimating modules within ERP systems and maintain proposal data within CRM platforms.
  • Review and approve proposals to ensure competitiveness, accuracy, and alignment with commercial objectives.
  • Manage quotation schedules to meet customer deadlines across all company locations.
  • Analyse and report on estimating performance, workload, and key metrics to senior leadership.
  • Continuously improve estimating processes, tools, and accuracy through industry best practice and technology adoption.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years’ experience in estimating and proposal management roles.
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience within electrical manufacturing or a closely related industry.
  • Proven experience leading, managing, and developing teams over a sustained period.
  • Hands-on experience operating as an ERP super-user and CRM administrator.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • High integrity with a strong commitment to ethical business practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications at an intermediate to advanced level.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, specifications, codes, and drawings.
  • Highly organised, results-driven, and capable of operating effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must reside within the Greater Houston area and be able to work onsite.
  • Ability to pass background screening, drug testing, and role-related physical or driving requirements.
  • Alignment with organisational values centred on quality, ownership, and collaboration.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience using AutoCAD.
  • Programming or configuration experience related to quotation or estimating software.
