Due to continued growth, the organisation is expanding its product management capability within optical test equipment, supporting innovation and market expansion across a global customer base.

Role:

The Product Manager – Optical Test Equipment plays a critical role in managing the full product life-cycle, with a strong focus on commercial execution and marketing leadership.

This position is responsible for annual planning, market and competitor analysis, product releases, promotion, target market programmes, sales enablement, and structured feedback to R&D. The role also provides guidance on pricing, inventory, service, technical support, and training.

The Product Manager will drive both short- and long-term revenue and market share growth through targeted marketing campaigns, customer application demonstrations, target account research, and new account penetration strategies.

Requirements & Essential Functions:

  • Develop a deep understanding of market requirements and influence engineering teams to embed these needs into current and future product designs.
  • Create and execute annual product business plans, defining clear actions and tracking performance against objectives.
  • Maintain strong technical knowledge of products, clearly articulating value propositions, key features, competitive positioning, target markets, and applications.
  • Collaborate with regional and global marketing teams to develop and launch product and industry-related promotional activities, including digital content, demonstrations, brochures, advertising, webinars, press releases, exhibitions, and thought leadership initiatives, ensuring strong return on investment.
  • Create and maintain sales enablement tools, including presentations, training materials, competitor comparisons, sales updates, customer references, seminars, and supporting resources.
  • Support sales teams in winning large and complex opportunities, including product customisation, partnering strategies, and solution-based selling.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, sales representatives, application engineers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve technical support efficiency and ensure technical documentation is accessible and up to date.
  • Consistently meet or exceed defined financial performance targets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6–8+ years’ hands-on experience within Test & Measurement environments, including optical test equipment such as Optical Spectrum Analysers (OSAs), Wavelength Meters, OTDRs, and High-Resolution Reflectometers.
  • Experience may be gained through product management, engineering and design, or technical sales roles requiring strong technical and commercial acumen.
  • Broad exposure to areas such as power analysers, data acquisition, oscilloscopes, inverters, motors and drives, EVs, optical communications, and network components is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional and credible approach.
  • Ability to operate effectively within a global, matrixed organisation.
